- Define the KPI. Record the metric, unit, reporting period, target and intended decision. Decide whether an increase or decrease is desirable.

Create a Google Sheets KPI dashboard
Prepare a sheet with headers such as Date, Region, Revenue and Target. Paste the sheet link into the connector, validate access and inspect the detected headers before mapping fields to widgets. The current connector reads the sheet through CSV export and requires “Anyone with the link can view.” For data that should remain outside that sharing model, use an appropriate DataStatPro local or cloud dataset workflow.
Sales KPI example: actual revenue versus target
If monthly revenue is 80,000 and the target is 100,000, attainment is 80% and the shortfall is 20,000. Display revenue as a metric card, monthly revenue as a line chart, region totals as a bar chart and attainment with a target widget. Prepare any derived rate in the source data or an appropriate data-preparation workflow.
Keep targets at the correct reporting grain. Repeating the same monthly target on every transaction row and summing it will overstate the target. Check dashboard results against the source before distribution.
Dashboard refresh, shared snapshots and report exports
Use manual refresh or enable the viewer’s interval-based auto-refresh. A refresh timestamp and active, stale or error status help assess data freshness. Refreshing the dashboard does not guarantee that the upstream source has new records.
Shared snapshot views use saved widget results for a consistent reporting view. Check the snapshot before sending a share link. Review expiration, password and other available access settings in the sharing workflow.
PNG and PDF exports capture dashboard visuals. CSV exports source rows; JSON exports processed widget data with dashboard metadata. HTML export packages a static dashboard image. Shared snapshot views disable exports, even though download preferences may appear in sharing settings.
