How to create a research questionnaire online

- Choose a starting point. Create a blank survey or use a research baseline, KAP, customer feedback, employee engagement or event template. Use quiz mode when answers need correct-answer scoring.
- Match each question to the variable. Use numeric fields for quantities, single choice for one category, multiple choice for several selections and matrix questions for repeated items. Add consent and explanatory text where appropriate.
- Configure and preview the respondent flow. Set required questions, validation, page breaks and branching. Choose question-by-question, section-by-section or all-at-once display. Test every branch before publishing.
- Collect responses. Publish a respondent link or enable a website embed for an allowed domain. Preview on mobile and desktop before sharing.

Survey skip logic and conditional questions: a practical example
Ask “Have you used our service in the last month?” as a single-choice question. Show a satisfaction rating to people who select “Yes,” and skip that follow-up for people who select “No.” Use grouped AND/OR conditions when more than one answer determines the branch.
Show/hide rules control visibility; skip-to rules change the respondent path. Test both paths, including required questions, so respondents are not asked to rate an experience they have not had. A skipped answer is missing by design, not a zero satisfaction score.
Multilingual questionnaires
Set the default language and add translated question text and options. Import or export translations and preview right-to-left layouts. Review the wording in each language before collecting responses.
Survey branding

These structures do not establish questionnaire validity or remove the need to review variable types. Distinguish skipped, unanswered and selected responses, check reverse-coded items and define any composite score before analysis.

Can I build multilingual surveys, including Arabic?
Yes. The builder supports a default language, additional language versions and translation import/export. Respondent layouts support right-to-left languages such as Arabic and Urdu. Supply and review the translated text; adding a language does not automatically translate the questionnaire.
Can I embed a DataStatPro survey on my website?
Yes. Enable embedding in survey settings, allow the website domain and use the generated iframe code. Embedded access checks the parent domain from the referrer, so test the form on the intended website before distribution.
Can I export survey responses to Excel or CSV?
Yes. Response exports support XLSX, CSV and JSON, with raw and analysis-ready modes. Analysis-ready export expands multiple-choice selections into indicator columns, ranking answers into rank columns and matrix answers into row columns where applicable.
Does survey data sync automatically with statistical analysis?
Use the dashboard actions to attach responses to a DataStatPro dataset and sync the latest responses into a linked dataset. This is an explicit action, not a promise of continuous automatic updates. Review response filters, coding and missing data before running analyses.
What does survey completion rate measure?
Completion rate is the number of saved complete responses divided by all saved responses, multiplied by 100. For 80 complete and 20 partial saved responses, the rate is 80%. It does not measure every visitor who opened the survey without saving a response.
Is DSP Surveys available on every DataStatPro plan?
The survey management dashboard is available to Pro and Educational Pro users, with an administrator exception. Check the current pricing page for plan eligibility and limits before creating a survey.
